"Urban Iona "

The Rev. Kurt Neilson's book, Urban Iona, Celtic Hospitality in the City was released on February 1 by Morehouse Publishing.
Diane Urbano-Neilson hosted a reception and book signing at SS. Peter & Paul on May 12. Over 60 guests enjoyed the event highlighted by a reading from the author. The evening was a blend of parishioners, colleagues and friends who gathered to hear the story of a pilgrim's journey, honor his achievement as author, and celebrate the vision that has inspired and challenged us to explore our own pilgrimage.
Kitchen Remodel

On Sunday, January 21st, the parish hosted a celebration to bless our newly remodeled kitchen. The remodel began with the diligent efforts of three grant request writers who are also members of the parish. We were blessed with grants from the Diocesan Board of Trustees, Diocesan Pentecost Offering, and National Jubilee Center. In addition, financial gifts from individuals, and money from our Capital Funds account were used to transform our tiny kitchen to a commercial grade kitchen. The upgrade will allow us to better serve and expand our existing outreach ministries, which include Brigid's Table, our weekly hot meal program, and Rahab's Sisters, a weekly ministry of hospitality and presence to women in prostitution.

The remodel project was faithfully managed by our volunteer "contractor", Sue Hiscoe, and of course, was made possible by hours and hours of time and talent given by members and friends of the parish for the work of demolition, construction, and organization.

As Sue so eloquently stated in her thank you to all who contributed,
"All these people offered their money, gifts, and/or time in grateful knowledge of the abundance in their lives and a willingness to spend some time on helping spread it around. They didn’t just hand someone money at a stop light; they helped lay the foundation for a stable place in the life of such marginalized persons. We have so much opportunity to make a difference in human lives through our work in Brigid’s Table and Rahab’s Sisters!
Enjoy the new kitchen, and the results that come. We have new assets, new blessings; our call in the Lord challenges us to use them well."

"Diamond Jubilee"

Saints Peter & Paul held its 10th annual Silent Auction on Saturday, November 11. Bidders selected from items such as gift certificates for restaurants, theaters, special events and services, as well as jewelry, artwork and themed baskets. The auction is a year-round project and our thanks goes to auction co-chairs, Becky Sanchez and Maureen McKenzie for their dedication in planning and organizing the event.

With the help of the auction committee, the choir, and auction assistants the evening was a great success. The auction is our major fundraiser of the year with proceeds benefiting the parish general fund. This year the auction raised nearly $5000.00. The success of the auction would not have been possible without the help of many volunteers and the generous support of the contributors and all those who attended. Thanks everyone!
