We are an urban Anglo-Catholic Episcopal Church,
offering rich traditional worship with an open, progressive theological
outlook. We have a Celtic Christian flavor visible especially in The
Columba Center, which offers a Rule of Life for spiritual deepening
while ministering to the homeless and to women in prostitution. We offer
programs for children and youth and have a young face!
We are located in the Montavilla neighborhood of
Portland, close to Gateway transit center, Mall 205, and only ten
minutes away from Portland International Airport on 82nd Avenue. Come
check us out!
Next Sunday's Service - Proper 13
This week's Old Testament reading is a word of judgment written by the prophet Hosea. In the midst of the stern warning, however, we find these tender verses: "Yet it was I who taught Ephraim to walk, I took them up in my arms; but they did not know that I healed them. I led them with cords of human kindness, with bands of love.
I was to them like those who lift infants to their cheeks. I bent down to them and fed them." This moving description of God's care for the nation Israel is a strong reminder that though God may judge, he judges as the great lover of all humanity and love itself; his judgment also springs from and is tempered by great love. The readings for 10 Pentecost may be found here.
